Bob Cooke – TSTA (UKCP)
Bob who is the founder of the Manchester Institute for Psychotherapy is an experienced psychotherapist and freelance trainer and supervisor. He runs a clinical practice encompassing both individual and group psychotherapy. He also runs a four-year TA Psychotherapy course with a UKCP accreditation. The basic theoretical framework that he uses in his work is Transactional Analysis, and he offers an integrative approach to therapy, incorporating Gestalt and bodywork techniques.
Stephanie Cooke PTSTA (UKCP)
Stephanie has a wide range of experience, working with children and adolescents for many years. She has worked as a Social Worker specialising in children, and a Counsellor for disturbed adolescents and children who have been traumatised and abused. She has worked with Michelle Elliot on devising the Kidscape workbook alongside the N.S.P.C.C.
Stephanie has worked as a Counsellor and psychotherapist for twenty years, she is presently working at the Manchester Institute as a trainer and psychotherapist with Adults and Children
Stephanie is a Trainer and Supervisor within the psychotherapy training program at the Manchester Institute for Psychotherapy.
Stephanie’s passion is in all areas of Psychotherapy and specifically Supervision.
As well as the above Stephanie runs a supervision practice for individuals and groups
Amanda Phillips

Amanda has had 20 years of experience of working with adults, children and young people in numerous settings such as schools, colleges, hostels and private practice. As a Psychotherapist this work includes school’s counsellor, family therapy and in-depth 1-1 with homeless teenagers. She runs groups on self esteem, anger management and provides training for the City council on attachment, engaging young people and managing challenging behaviour. Her passion and respect for young people combined with her warmth and humour allows the young person to feel safe enough to engage and build a relationship where change can take place.
Amanda has been in private practice with adults for over 12 years using an Integrative approach which draws on a variety of modalities including TA, Gestalt, CBT and Humanistic. She believes that the theoretical model forms the backdrop to her work but that it is the relationship between which is fundamental to growth and change.
She works therapeutically part time at a pupil referral unit and part time at the Institute seeing individuals, couples, children, adoloscents and families for Psychotherapy and Supervision
Karen Burke
Karen F Burke (MSc) is a registered and accredited psychotherapist with the UKCP. In her many years of experience she has worked with both children and adults in private practice. Karen has worked with children in a hospice setting, with children who are terminally ill and those that have lost family members.
Karen has worked in Warwickshire, Herefordshire and Lancashire with looked after children and trained and worked as an attachment therapist in Lancashire/Cheshire. To further her work with children, she has a certificate in Theraplay ® techniques and is currently studying to gain her Theraplay® Level 1 Practitioner qualification.
Using Gestalt and other child-friendly techniques Karen has worked with children from the ages of 4 through to adulthood at 18.
